About Me

IMG_0433.jpg

I grew up in Rockfall, Connecticut, but spent have spent the latter part of the 2010s and the early 2020s in South Carolina. While my roots are deep in New England the Carolinas have become home and Clemson has become a very large part of that for me.

As I was coming into college, deciding what to study was not the problem; it was deciding what not to study. I had many different interests and no one major could cater to them all. What I knew was that I wanted to be equipped with the ability to help others in need, study a language, and just enjoy what I was learning. This led me at first to the Bachelor of Arts Psychology degree offered by Clemson, where quite a few credits of the degree are devoted to language classes. This was a was for me to get involved with these areas that I was not sure how to piece together into one four-year degree path.

Psychology has always been a large interest of mine, and that interest has only grown while I have been studying the subject. I have found that I am fascinated with the subfield of developmental psychology, and it was in my sophomore year when I took a class on this subfield that my ideas for what I wished to do as a career really began to take shape. I have always loved working with children, (I am the eldest of my cousins on both sides of my family) and I have spent years as a nanny and tutor when I am not in class myself. Whether it is research into how their minds work, or putting the field's findings into practice in a clinical setting, developmental psychology is my passion, and I look forward to a long career in the area.

I had never studied Spanish before enrolling in my first semester at Clemson, and in my first class I fell in love with the language. It was originally only meant to be a part of my Psychology degree, but when I realized after a meeting with an advisor that I had over three semesters worth of credits already earned through high school advanced placement classes, I decided to declare a second degree in the language. My semester in Spain really assisted in bringing the book knowledge that I learned at Clemson off the page and into the real world. I truly felt my skills improve in speaking and listening and grew as a person from the difficulties I faced while abroad.

My two degrees that I earned during my time at Clemson have bestowed on me a valuable education that I will never take for granted. Please enjoy exploring that education on this website!

I plan on pursuing a graduate degree in developmental psychology, and as a stepping point in towards that goal, I have spent the last several months working as a research assistant in the Developmental Dynamics lab at the University of Georgia under Dr. Drew Abney.
